LATIL UC (english)

Technological & Industrial Applications Laser Laboratory

For over 20 years LATIL has promoted awareness of the technological applications of lasers in the Chilean industry. This through several postgraduate courses offered: Industrial Applications of Lasers and  Modern Manufacturing Methods, both taught at the School of Engineering at PUC and today a course in Surface Engineering has been added. As well as through numerous research projects (more than 30 to date) leading to the professional abilitation of Mechanical Civil Engineering or a Master's and Ph.D. degree in Engineering Sciences.
The equipment of this laboratory has been made possible by various donations from foreign universities and institutions (University of Twente, Laser Centrum Friesland, The University of Texas at Austin) and the funding from our School of Engineering, DICTUC SA, Fundación Andes, FONDECYT, FONDEF, Linde Chile and Ophir-Spiricon.
This makes the LATIL-UC one of the best equipped laser laboratories in the country and the region and one of the most scientifically productive in South America in the field of laser materials processing.
